The role of a Buddhist priest is to help change the lives of people by using the teachings that he/she has learned.
It is important for priests not to become subject as an individual to someone’s faith or dependence.
Instead, a priest should be a conduit to help others return to their own “best place.”
Just as the importance of the Buddha was not found in his physical form or earthly presence, priests should not invest too much in their identities as father/mother or other worldly roles.
Instead, priests should focus on the enduring truth that the Buddha uncovered.
Thus, priest should not reject those who come or chase after those who leave, but remain steadfast in their practice and teaching.
